BHS Approved Riding SchoolOur BHS Approved riding school has been providing quality riding and horse care activities for 35 years!

We take riders from age 3 and have an impressive fleet of wonderful horses and ponies- all carefully chosen for their temperament, talent and nature.

Whatever your riding level, we have the facilities to take you from complete novice through to advanced rider. There is something for everyone at the riding school.

Our highly trained instructors specialise in making every lesson fun engaging, supportive and progressive. We use inclusive teaching practices for those requiring extra support, and can make bespoke enrichment packages for schools and organisations.

That’s not all.... we also have a full programme of additional activities- including holiday clubs, camps, riding school shows, pony parties etc.

And as BHS approved challenge award centre, you can also achieve these nationally recognised certificates in riding and horsecare.

Riding School Options
Riding Lessons

Stainsby Grange provide horses and ponies that are as safe as possible while maintaining an enjoyable and fun attitude to riding and learning equestrianism at all levels.

Although we take all reasonable precautions for your safety, you must accept that riding horses is a risk sport.

Your first lesson at Stainsby Grange will involve completing a client registration form and induction notice which will tell us what your experience with horses is and also any medical conditions that we need to know about (this may affect the horse we put you on).

Pony Walks

Available for 4 – 6 years old £10 per child
Walks include a 15 minute journey around Stainsby Grange and a mini lesson – parent participation needed. Maximum 3 at a time

Pony Parties

Why not treat your child to a super fun pony party at Stainsby Grange!:-
6 – 8 children to include half hour fun games lesson and half hour grooming and pony pamper session.

Then to the party room for party food and cake (both provided by yourself) 

£20 per child includes a Pony Party Rosette for each child!

Cancellation Policy

Midweek group lessons- 50% cancellation changes. 100% if cancelled on day or no show.
Saturday lessons- as per Saturday prepay agreement.

Equipment Needed

Hat (available to hire 50p) Should be to the latest standard (currently BSEN1384 or PAS015)

Should be well fitting and in good repair. Strong shoes with a small heel will do but it is advisable to buy jodhpur boots or long riding boots as soon as you are riding on a regular basis. Trainers, muckers or wellies are unsafe to ride in.

Make riding more comfortable but can easily be replaced with trousers so long as they are not too loose or restrictive in any way

Necessary in cold weather when worn it must be fastened, loose flapping coats and scarves can be frightening to your horse.

Optional if worn must be well fitting and comfortable
